With our Unicode test PS documents, we are seeing huge memory usage while converting it to PDF. We converted it on HPUX 11.11 platform. This problem might be there on all the platforms. These Unicode documents refer to the AndaleMonoWTG fonts provided by Monotype. We observed more than 150MB memory growth. We are using the following command for PS->PDF conversion: /hp/om/bin/gs -I/hp/om/lib/FONTS/Unicode -I/hp/om/lib/FONTS/Soft_Horizons - I/hp/om/lib/PS -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=t.pdf sf_alextest_latin2.ps
Created attachment 2445 [details] sf_alextest_latin2.ps Unicode PostScript test file used in the test.
Update to reflect custoemr #130.
I've assigned this bug to Igor since it's likely related to bug #688823 (I didn't confirm the bug since I don't have a copy of the AndaleMonoWTG font).
We close this problem as a dup of 688823 because both have same reason and same fixes. See 688823 for useful patches and for further comments.
Current HEAD (with today's fix) reduces the memory consumption to about 40MB. That's all what we can do urgently. See bug 688823, bug 688871 and bug 688872 for further improvements.
