The instruction states: 1.1) To install a "Ghostscript PDF" printer on Windows XP, select the Windows Control Panel, Printers and Faxes, Add a Printer, Local Printer, Use port FILE: (Print to File), Have Disk..., select the directory containg ghostpdf.ppd and ghostpdf.inf, select "Ghostscript PDF", Replace existing driver (if asked), and answer the remaining questions appropriately. Problem is that I get eror message "The specified location does not contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the location contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems." The ghostpdf.ppd and ghostpdf.inf are chosen correctly. I've tried gs 8.51, 8.53, 8.54.
I've no idea what could be wrong and cannot test. Assigning to Russell, who maintains the Win64 build.
The INF file needs to be updated to work on 64-bit XP. I have been sent some patches for this, but they haven't yet made it into SVN.
I can't find the patch to make ghostpdf.inf work with Win64. If anyone knows the fix, please attach it to this bug.
I added an INF file that should work on win64, as attachment #2668 [details] on bug #687981 "Ghostscript PDF" INF installer for Win95/98/ME/NT4/2K/XP". Unfortunately I don't have access to the hardware/software necessary to test it on these platforms. I would be gratefull if somebody tests the install on ia64 and/or amd64 and posts the results.
I have committed a minimal change to allow ghostpdf.ppd/inf to be installed on 64-bit Windows. Tested on Windows 2k (not sure which SP), Windows XP SP2, and Windows XP x64 edition (I think this is SP2 by default). Thanks to SaGS for the necessary information.
nafgin1, please don't meddle with the Platform without a good reason. If you have a problem then please either re-open the bug and provide an explanation, or open a new bug entry.
