Confirmed in the current development version.
Comment 4 Hin-Tak Leung 2007-01-22 08:24:47 UTC
There are a few others, such as bug 688639 , and bug 689001 which may be related?
Comment 5 Hin-Tak Leung 2007-01-22 08:27:04 UTC
BEcause ESP 8.15.3 on x86_64 (fc6) seems to do the conversion without losing text.
Comment 6 SaGS 2007-03-11 16:05:29 UTC
I found this to caused by Type 0 fonts with Type 3 descendents, a
cause common to all the following:

Bug #688639 "pdfwrite: a composite font with a Type 3 descendent
                 and FMapType 2"
Bug #688760 "ps2pdf loses text in postscript figure when
                 converted to pdf"
Bug #688954 "Text disappears when converting some ps files
                 with ps2pdf"
Bug #689001 "Characters lost converting PS to PDF"
Bug #689041 "Japanese Font Display Problem is ps2pdf"
Bug #689105 "Invalid fonts error during converting from PS to PDF"

For a fix, please see bug #688639 comment #13. I suggest to close
this bug as a duplicate of bug #688639.
