We identified a problem on Ghost pcl 1.53  when using 1200 resolution.
This problem does not appear on Ghostpdl 8.70, so it is probably fixed but we 
could not identify where the problem occurs in 1.53.

Attached is a very simplified testcase containing only the 'A' character and 
some pcl commands.

Also attached is what we obtain using the command line: 
pcl6.exe -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=tiffg4 -r1200 -J"@PJL SET PAPER=A4" -
sOutputFile=out1200.tiff simplified_testcase.pcl

Notice in the 1200 resolution output that there is a black box instead of 'A';  
when transforming in 300 the output is OK.
We could not identify yet where this problem resides but considering it is 
fixed in 8.70 could you identify a patch correcting this issue in 1.53 too?

We noticed that when removing the "source transparency" command from the 
testcase the problem does not appear any more in 1200 resolution but could not 
follow the flow to see what triggers this issue.
Please provide directions.

It probably would be difficult to find and port the fix back, we'd much prefer
you upgrade.  Let us know if this is urgent and we'll work on it.

Hello,

We have already started upgrading to GhostPCL 8.70 level of code. But the 
product that will have this level of code included will have its official 
release somewhere in August. If in this time, we'll receive a customer issue 
related to 1200 resolution, we might come back to you.  

You can close the defect for now.
