Description Till Kamppeter 2007-04-30 02:33:25 UTC
This bug report was moved from ESP GhostScript
(http://www.cups.org/espgs/str.php?L2343). As ESP GhostScript is discontinued
and currently merged into GPL GhostScript, the bug will be tracked here now.

Here is the original report and the full discussion thread:

zhangweiwu 06:24 Apr 13, 2007:

app-text/ghostscript-esp 8.15.3 fail when printing to inkjet printer but
meanwhile the laserjet (postscript) print is working fine on the same cups
installation.

uname -a
Linux sappho.realss.com 2.6.18-gentoo-r3 #23 Mon Apr 9 23:27:21 HKT 2007 sparc64
sun4u TI UltraSparc IIi (Sabre) GNU/Linux

I have attached the section of error log file produced at "LogLevel debug" which
I think might be useful.

I also tried www.cs.wisc.edu's ghostscript and GNU ghostscript. Both doesn't
work for me.

My ghostscript-esp is compiled with:

/etc/make.conf
CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=ultrasparc -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe"
CHOST="sparc-unknown-linux-gnu"

It's configured with CUPS and XML options on and X/gtk & threads option off.

zhangweiwu 06:35 Apr 13, 2007:

I am not sure if his bug is anything related to mine:

http://www.nabble.com/Bug-418706:-pstoraster-crashed-on-signal-10-(cups)-t355891
1.html

I don't have the error message he mentioned: "[Job 7] This document does not
conform to the Adobe Document Structuring Conventions and may not print correctly! "

Mike Sweet 08:36 Apr 13, 2007:

Please re-test with ESP Ghostscript 8.15.4 and report whether the problem still
occurs.

This could also be an issue with GCC on the SPARC platform...

zhangweiwu 07:45 Apr 14, 2007:

First I tested to re-compile 8.15.3 using GCC 3.4.6 (last time it was compiled
with GCC 3.4.5). This problem still exists. Then I have compiled ghostscript-esp
8.15.4 but this problem still exists.

I am not sure if this is related to my particular machine or platform or
configuration. On this machine everything works except ghostscript, and all 3
varieties of ghostscript (GNU, AFPL, ESP) all fail with the same error message.

What do you need from this machine to further debug this issue? (direct ssh
access to this machine is also possible if that can help)

till.kamppeter 16:43 Apr 20, 2007:

As this problem also occurs with GPL and AFPL GhostScript for you, please report
this bug on

http://bugs.ghostscript.com/

The ESP GhostScript project is discontinued and merges into GPL GhostScript
soon. So açç bugs not specific to ESP GhostScript should be fixed directly in
GPL GhostScript (which is the head of GhostScript development).
Comment 1 Ray Johnston 2007-05-01 09:50:14 UTC
8.1x is obsolete.

Please test with 8.56 GPL Ghostscript

If the problem still occurs, attach a sample file and command line that
reproduces the crash.

Closing the bug as "LATER" until the above is satisfied.

We need to wait for the original poster to show up here, so that we can asked
him for testing with the current GhostScript.
Comment 3 Ken Sharp 2019-02-10 12:24:31 UTC
After nearly 12 years, I guess the original reporter isn't going to show up.
