i've been trying to make my printer work for a _very_ long time now. i've
recently found out about different ghostscripts so giave them a try. namely
gnu-/afpl-ghostscript and hat minor success (i can print from windows over samba
now, yay). with the standard (old) ghostscript i could even print out test
pages. but this won't work with the other two. so maybe you guys can fix that:

i'm using the hl1250.ppd from linuxprinting.org, as it is recommended.
i've trying lpnrg lately with some success, but i'd rather stay with cups.

You are trying to use hl1250 device driver but vour version of Ghostscript
doesn't include this driver. Only v. 7.06 and 7.07 of all versions of
Ghostscript released by the Ghostscript developers include it. Before this
driver is added to the 8.XX versions you need to get the source code of the
driver, add it to the current Ghostscript, modify the make files, and recompile. 

Use "gs -h" to see the list of available drivers in your version of Ghostscript.
