Description Henry Stiles 2009-10-20 09:01:11 UTC
The Artifex PCL interpreter fails to properly emulate HP's advance width when
rendering fonts of very small point size.

A test of 79 8 point fonts and a superimposed grid.
Comment 2 Henry Stiles 2009-10-21 08:59:05 UTC
Note the test is somewhat confounded by HP's use (at least on the HP 4600) of
the small tilde (code point U+02DC) instead of tilde (code point U+007E) for the
second to last character in each line. We consider this too "wrong" to emulate,
so to use the test to check the spacing of characters disregard the last 2
characters on each line.
Comment 3 Henry Stiles 2009-10-21 14:50:56 UTC
Comment #2 should be discarded the tilde characters were incorrect and have been
fixed in revision 10206.
Comment 4 Henry Stiles 2009-11-20 08:20:57 UTC
At present I don't see a good solution to this problem without radically
changing the pcl font rendering machinery. We note the problems are quite
minor. This bug will likely be resolved as "WONTFIX".
