PS file where conversion to PDF fails on the fonts.

After update from gs 9.05 to 9.15 I have trouble with ps2pdf.

I use this in a bash script to convert PostScript generated by the "Generic Mapping Tools" [1] to a PDF. The fonts used are not part of the default fonts. fc-list shows the required fonts as installed and I made sure that the font-files are actually present.

When I view the PostScript in Mac OS X' Preview.app everything looks fine, taking a look at the PDF the fonts are replaced by (I guess) Helvetica and TimesNewRoman.

For conversion I simply use:

ps2pdf $FILE $PDF_FILE_NAME

I attached one of the PostScript files for experimenting.

System:
* Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS (GNU/Linux 2.6.32-042stab092.2 x86_64)
* GPL Ghostscript 9.15 (2014-09-22)
* GMT - The Generic Mapping Tools, Version 5.2.0_r13576 [64-bit] [4 cores]

Can you run "gs -h" with your 9.15 build, and post the output here, please?

Comment 5 Chris Liddell (chrisl) 2014-10-01 13:44:34 UTC
Thanks! Based on that output, your 9.15 build is not using fontconfig to search for fonts, and that probably explains the problem. If 9.15 is using fontconfig, you get an additional line after the search path listing:
"Ghostscript is also using fontconfig to search for font files"

You'll have to install the fontconfig development package (libfontconfig1-dev), and re-configure and re-build Ghostscript. And test again.
Comment 6 Kristof 2014-10-01 13:48:19 UTC
Thanks Chris! Seems to be a case of PEBKAC ...
I'll proceed as instructed and report back. Thank you.
Comment 7 Ken Sharp 2014-10-08 08:16:49 UTC
Its been a week with no further input, and we don;t believe there's a Ghostscript bug here on the current information, so closing.
