on Linux SUSE 10.1 x86_64 for make so to succed, I must add CFLAGS_SO=-fPIC in the Makefile generated by configure (by default, CFLAGS_SO is empty) without this modification, the libraries cannot be linked (problem with relocatable symbols, the ld error message says "try recompile with -fPIC", and indeed this solves the problem) |
