The customer reports that gs8.54 has the same issue converting a barcode font to
a type3 font when writing a PDF file as reported in bug 687472.  

I looked at the patches produced to fix bug 687472 and some of them appear to be
in gs8.54 but others are not.  And there have been significant changes to the
code so that porting the missing patches to gs8.54 is non-trivial.

Marcos,

I guess, now the customer has another test case. The old one is a part of the 
nightly regression run comparefiles/Bug687472.ps, and we didn't detect a 
regression with it. I just run it on Windows and got the right result.
Please attach the new test case to here.

I don't think that we "miss" patches. Probably they have been replaced fith a 
better ones. The related changes are too complicated for your "porting" - don't 
spend time for it.
