Follow on from #691734. The original report was against 9.0 with a symptom of 'rangecheck'. This report is for 8.71 where the symptom is 'corrupted images'. Since this is undoubtedly a different problem I've chosen to open a new bug report for it.

Closing due to the age of the version on this one.  Problem did not occur in 9.0 which was released over a year ago.
