Using the file luximr.ttf (Luxi Mono Regular Version 1.2)
which is part of many X11 distributions, the pdfwrite device
fails with /invalidfont for this simple input file:

(luximr.ttf) (r) file .loadfont
100 100 moveto
/LuxiMono 400 selectfont
/o glyphshow
stroke

I used this command line:
  gs -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=foo.pdf -f foo.ps

If necessary, I can upload this font.

Note that the current SVN repository works fine with my test case.

Dear Werner Lemberg,

If you agree to go with current HEAD or wait for the next release, then close 
the bug. If you want us to work on this problem, we'll need the font. But in 
the second case we'll patch 8.54 for Artifex customers only. For non-customers 
the result will again be closing with 'worksforme'.
