Description Marcos H. Woehrmann 2011-01-20 19:23:26 UTC
The customer reports:

While rendering this PDF document, sent to us by one of our customers, GS8.64 crashes.

Because the pages 1-4 are delivered, GS seems to crash while rendering page 5, what is a large JPEG image.
I tried it with the following options :

gswin32c.exe "-IC:\Program Files (x86)\gs\gs8.64\lib" "-sFONTPATH=c:\windows\fonts;c:\gs\fonts" "-sGenericResourceDir=C:/Program Files (x86)/gs/gs8.64/Resource/" "-dSAFER" "-dBATCH" "-dNOPAUSE" "-sDEVICE=jpeg" "-r300" "-dTextAlphaBits=4" "-dJPEGQ=90" "-dGraphicsAlphaBits=4" "-sOutputFile=E:\PDF_API\Temp\20101015_0003_Vorgang_%02d.jpg" 20101015_0003_Vorgang.pdf

I've tried duplicating this under Mac OS X or Linux but can't duplicate the issue.

I confirm the crash on v. 8.64, Win32.
v. 8.70 and higher (including current HEAD) work fine.
I didn't yet test other platforms, for instance, 32-bit Linux.

Following Ray's advice, I'm closing this bug report.
v. 8.64 is no longer supported. Newer versions,
including the upcoming v. 9.01, don't have this bug.

The problem looked slightly familiar, so I investigated it (didn't take long) before realising the bug was closed. The revision which fixed this was (as I suspected) one of mine, revision 9727.

I don't know when we stopped support for 8.64, but the customer did report the problem more than a month ago. The patch is very simple, perhaps we could send it to them, at the same time as telling them that 8.64 is no longer supported ?
