Description artifex 2009-07-10 00:50:59 UTC
If you are viewing the file seite7.pdf, you can see text sections which are
preceeded with a bullet. If this file is converted to PDF ( gs -sDEVICE=pdfwrite
-o out.pdf -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH seite7.pdf ) , the bullets are shown as black
rectangles.
The conversion to other formats like TIFFG4 or Postscript works fine!

Comment 2 Ken Sharp 2009-07-10 01:24:52 UTC
The 'bullets' are in fact rectangular black images drawn with a soft mask (!) to
produce the curves.

I see that gs 8.64 does indeed produce (large) solid black rectangles instead of
small circular black bullets.

Using current code results in correct output for me, it looks like this has been
fixed as a result of the extensive work on soft masks.

Unfortunately the soft-mask changes are extensive and generating patches for previous releases of
Ghostscript for these changes is not possible. We'll be releasing a new version in August that will
incorporate these changes.
